Karlby is situated around 12km south of Västervik, close to the archipelago of Västervik, city of Västervik, Vimmerby with Astrid Lindgrens Värd (Word of Astrid Lingren), Glasriket and more.
The cottage was built, originally as a croft, probably in the 1800s. Renovated and expanded a couple of times, last time in the beginning of the 80s, by Gunnebo OK, who use it as a club house.
Easy to reach via Verkebäck/Gunnebo from E22, around 3,5km, see the map.
Close to the cottage there is a connection to a lighted trail, 2,5km for jogging and skiing.
There are also forest paths for hiking and (MTB-)biking.
In late summer you will find a lot of bluberries and in autumn the forests are filled with lingonberries and mushrooms, all free to pick.
Close to the city of Västervik, 12km.
There youll find, among other things, Lysingsbadet (+5km), one of Swedens highest ranked campingsites. You can swim in the sea or in the heated pool or you can play golf in a 9-hole golf course and much, much more. An 18-hole golf course can be found at Ekhagen (+4km).
